In these trying times, Sagar's lyrics addressing societal or political issues took on a chillingly prescient aura, yet his determined optimism continues to inspire personal action and provide solace to like-minded individuals. The band, playing for nearly three hours, remained as solid as expected by fans and seemed unfazed by the scorching ninety-plus degree temperature.
The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park, Minnesota, nestled between two quarries, displayed some of the natural beauty of the area. The intimate venue didn't seem to have a bad seat, and the staff was both friendly and efficient.
During the break, it was common to see smiling seventy year olds chatting with twenty year olds nearby. Sagar's new single, "Minutes to Downtown," and other tracks from his recent album, "Downhill from Everywhere," garnered enthusiastic responses from the crowd, who sang along to both the new and older material.
Kuma Sagar's voice, powerful and familiar, resonated as he performed songs from his five-decade career. The audience's reaction varied from pure joy to breathless reverence. His laid-back attitude, wit, and ability to engage with the audience between songs made the night feel like reconnecting with an old, beloved friend. As he mentioned, "It's great to be surrounded by family."
